Welcome to week one of our prayer time.
The Lord has already impressed upon me that we are to start at the beginning, the beginning of our faith journey....the Father's love....and so I pray:
Lord, we thank you that this is the day you have made and we WILL rejoice in it. We thank you for our precious sons and the destiny they have that has been laid out for them since the beginning of time. We thank you that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. And we thank you for the gift they are to us and that you would entrust us with their lives.
Today, Lord Jesus, we ask that our sons and the sons in our world, ___________________ (by name), would know firsthand the Father's love. Though we will fail them, may they know that your love will never fail. That you love them with a never ending, all-consuming love. May they know that once they are in you, nothing can take them from your hand. We ask that you would place people and experiences in their lives that would show them how great your love truly is.
We also ask Lord, for safety and protection, that no evil would befall our sons, that no weapon formed against them would prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Help them to make wise choices and guide and lead their every footstep.
I also pray personally Lord, for all the moms here. You know how deeply we cherish our sons, Lord, but you love them so much more. Help us to not carry the burden of our son's future(s), but to trust you with their lives. You said "Your yoke is easy and your burden is light." Mark 11:30. I ask for the peace that passes all understanding, no matter what we face this day or this week. Help us to walk in the fruits of the spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control.(Galatians 5:22).
We ask all these things in the name of your son, Jesus.
Scripture for the week: Psalm 139. Make it a prayer for your son(s), etc.
Example:
O Lord, you have searched Jordan and know him,
You know his sitting down and rising up,
you understand his thoughts afar off,
you comprehend his path and his lying down
and are aquainted with all his ways.
For there is not a word on Jordan's tongue,
but behold Lord, you know it altogether,
You have hedged him behind and before,
and laid your hand upon him
Such knowledge is too wonderful for m,
it is high, I cannot atain it.
(continue on like this).
Please continue to pray as you are led, and if at all possible fast something, until sunset on Wednesday.
BELIEVING FOR GREAT THINGS FOR OUR SONS!!!
Sharon
Note: I want to set up a resource page here, so if you have a book, or other resource that has strongly influenced and encouraged you with your son, please let me know.
